What can I say about the Ricoh? Well… I was torn between the GR III and the GR IIIx, where the significant difference is the focal length. I didn’t really “need” another camera at the moment, but I did want the experience of this style of camera (i.e., shoot-n-go) and did hear good things about it so when the opportunity came along, I took it and ran (figuratively, that is). So why did I choose the GR III over the GR IIIx? I personally felt that I could use the additional scope provided by the wider lens. I almost always end up cropping my photos so if I were to use the 40mm equivalent, then I might lose some of the story I tried to capture. Note that this is only because of my style of shooting with the other cameras I own. I’m sure anyone can make it work but I chose not to adapt to keep things consistent; it just works for me.
