Film Plans for Next Year

Even with the market transition from analog to digital, a resurgence of new film options has arisen. I welcome this as it helps to keep film options alive. I am a very curious person and like to see what these options have to offer so I’d regularly buy what is new or has come back from the dead (believe it or not). The consequence of this though is that there has been no real consistency in the “look” of my photographs. We can bicker that format, composition, lens choice, etc. constitute the signature look, but if an ingredient in a recipe is off or missing then it will not taste the same.

A remaining goal for 2026 is to finish off what I have in my fridge and purchase no new film. When it is time, I will buy to have some film ready for 2027 if it even comes to that. I have quite a bit of film left and the tough part will be the expired film.

Anyway, when it comes to my ‘signature’ look I’ve been pondering what to use. I really like the saturated look. I have tried E100 and Ektar 100 but they don’t really do it for me. Maybe it just doesn’t exist anymore since the discontinuation of Ektachrome. Any recommendations that you have?
