Six Seven

I’ve been looking to slim down my collection. At the least, I’ve been trying to implement a one-in, one-out rule. I don’t want to be a collector; I want to use my gear.

I have had the Mamiya RB67 for some time now. I think it was my first medium format camera. It was affordable and functional; and the gentleman I bought it from had it in great condition. I was able to get some great glass and accessories from Japan before the tariffs. In my opinion it was a solid kit. However, even with all of that, I wasn’t reaching for it. It was heavy and it took time to set up; time is a commodity I value when it comes to capturing moments.

This past Monday, 15-Jun-2026, I was able to sell it at my asking price which still was at a loss to me. And that’s fine; as a buyer too I value a good deal.

The dilemma now is I have a bunch of 120 film but down one medium format camera. I have looked at some options and have been narrowing them down. Required features: low weight (or at least lower than the RB67), highly portable, preferably have interchangeable lenses, and most important of all is have some great glass. Any recommendations?

If the move is to stick with the Pentax 6x7 for now then I can do that but it too is a heavy beast.

All this to say that the RB67 was fun and a great intro into medium format but for my style it is not practical. I hope the gentleman that purchased it enjoys it as much or better than I did.

Cheers
